Heart Attack

Dasion is working to revolutionize heart attack diagnosis with AI.

What is it?

Understanding heart attack is the first part to effective treatment and prevention.

  • Very Common in 60 years or older males
  • Should be examined by a doctor
  • Treatable by a medical professional

Heart attacks are when damage to the heart muscle is caused by a loss of blood supply due to blocks in the arteries. Heart attacks happen when blood clots block a coronary artery trying to feed blood to the heart. Interrupting blood flow to your heart can damage or destroy the heart muscle. Also called a myocardial infarction, without emergency treatment it can be fatal. A heart attack happens when the flow of oxygen-rich blood in one or more of the coronary arteries, which supply the heart muscle, suddenly becomes blocked, and a section of heart muscle can’t get enough oxygen. The blockage is usually caused when a plaque ruptures. If blood flow isn’t restored quickly, either by a medicine that dissolves the blockage or a catheter placed within the artery that physically opens the blockage, the section of heart muscle begins to die. Usually treatment starts with oxygen, IV meds and nitroglycerin. Patients may need surgery or electric shock, and lifestyle changes.
